AI summary

Reshapes you into the composite paladin, drawing sacred oaths from D&D, the Codex Astartes and Black Templar zealotry, and Charlemagne's chivalric codes, along with combat techniques spanning holy sword forms, Warcraft's Seals and Judgments, Saber-class swordsmanship and Divine Smite. You gain protective auras, holy barriers and sanctuaries, Lay on Hands, a corruption-cleansing halo, a full White Mage healing suite, miracle traditions, and the Paladin's Sacrifice that takes another's wounds onto yourself, backed by Guts-like indomitability, fear immunity for you and your allies, zeal-fuelled might, a divine steed and squire traditions, radiant smite bolts, faith-as-weapon and access to sacred technologies. The costs are real: you are a beacon rather than a shadow so stealth is nearly impossible and enemies of faith are drawn to you, your power is bound to your oath and betraying it risks the Oathbreaker fall, your summoned companions judge your conduct and can leave for good, and students you teach remain bound by their own faith and choices.

Description

Appearance: The vessel for this Essence resembles, somewhat ironically, the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch. Within it sloshes liquid like deep red communion wine, threaded with sparks of radiant white light and what appear to be crumbs of holy wafer. It tastes of sunlight breaking through clouds, steel, and incense smoke. Effect: Upon drinking, your body reshapes into the ideal vessel of a Paladin: strength tuned to bear heavy armor and wield sanctified weapons, endurance to march under banners, and grace to inspire loyalty. Much like its progenitor, Composite Human, this Essence grants access to every Paladin archetype across myth and fiction — but filtered through faith, oath, and conviction. You may draw upon and embody the following:

Sacred Oaths and Codes

  • D&D Oaths (Devotion, Vengeance, Ancients, etc.)

  • Warhammer's Codex Astartes + Black Templar zealotry.

  • Chivalric codes of Charlemagne's Paladins.

Sacred Combat Techniques

  • Holy sword forms (Final Fantasy Tactics Zweihander stances).

  • Warcraft's Seals and Judgments.

  • Fate's Saber-class swordsmanship, wielded with noble intent.

  • Divine Smite (classic radiant strike).

PowersBlessings, Auras, and Shields

  • Aura of Protection (D&D).

  • Holy Barrier and Sanctuary (JRPGs).

  • Lay on Hands (Warcraft).

  • Halo/warding light that cleanses corruption (Exalted Zenith caste).

Healing and Restoration

  • White Mage healing suite (Final Fantasy).

  • Catholic/Orthodox miracle traditions (stigmata, relics).

  • Brigitte-style hybrid repair/support (Overwatch).

  • Paladin's Sacrifice: take another's wounds upon yourself.

Divine Resolve

  • Indomitability akin to Berserk's Guts.

  • Aura of Courage (D&D — immunity to fear for you + allies).

  • Zeal-fueled might (Warhammer).

  • Númenórean endurance (Lord of the Rings).

Mounts and Companions

  • Divine Steed (celestial warhorse, griffon, dragon — context-dependent).

  • Warcraft Charger summoning.

  • Knight-and-Squire traditions (mentor/empower a chosen companion).

Radiant / Holy Energies

  • Smite Evil bolts, Sunblade techniques.

  • Breath-prayers producing holy fire/sunlight (faith-driven Hamon).

  • Faith-as-Weapon (Warhammer — reality bends to conviction).

Sacred Technologies

  • Access to technologies tied to Paladin faith traditions (e.g., Warhammer Inquisitors' knowledge, relic-tech adapted to setting physics).

LimitationsLimitations and Weaknesses

  • Beacon, Not Shadow: Paladins radiate light. Stealth is nearly impossible, and your presence draws enemies of faith — blackguards, demons, rival zealots. Auras and AoE blessings always shape the battlefield, wanted or not. Friendly Fire isn't. Especially if your team mates aren't quite as...well...pure as they say they are..

  • Oathbound: Your power scales with your oath. Betray it, and you risk falling into the Oathbreaker/Anti-Paladin archetype until atonement.

  • Conditional Loyalty: Summoned companions and steeds judge your actions. Abuse or neglect drives them away, sometimes permanently. Celestial allies in particular are unforgiving.

  • Teachings with Strings: Students inherit techniques but remain bound by their own faith, stamina, and energy. Unlike you, they cannot swap or adapt oaths freely. Once taught, their choices are their own — for better or worse.

  • Moral Substrate Required: Unlike Composite Human (which is fueled by biology), the Paladin requires virtue, conviction, or moral foundation. In faithless or morally sterile settings, your powers may falter or vanish entirely. Where conviction is strong, however, your might surpasses even the Composite Human. Resurrection and other miracles often vary across dimensions. Worm for example-you might resurrect the person you wish to, but Parahumans may not come back with their powers-since Shards aren't technically part of the equation, it's up to the writer to decide how that works in universe. It might work perfectly, or they might come back with no power (Which could potentially be a death sentence for a Case 53).

  • Finite Energy and Fatigue: Unlike Composite Human's Zenkai-style growth, your energy is finite. Smite, heal, and aura burn stamina quickly. Renewal requires rest, meditation, prayer, or reaffirmation of vows. Pools can be expanded by training, but never made infinite.

  • Light's Boundaries: The Light obeys rules — unlike Evil, which thrives on transgression. You can heal, purify, resurrect, even lay waste to armies — but only within those boundaries. Some miracles demand sacrifice, others obedience. Great power, yes, but never unchecked.

  • This is NOT everything for the Composite Paladin I might add. If you think of something I haven't, that would logically be a part of it's archive well.. run with it, just fanwank responsibly. The same goes for the limitations. If you can think of a way around some (Or all?) of them. Go ahead, go wild.
