AI summary

Ascends your consciousness into the overseer of a new colony: your original body persists as one unit under your command but is no longer necessary, and your mind survives as long as a single unit remains. You command and communicate with all units remotely, perceive whatever they perceive plus a vague surrounding zone that sharpens as more units gather, and gain an extra thought thread for every twenty units, starting with seven — real people with their own natures and desires, controllable in broad strokes such as schedules and duties or in fine detail, recruitable by convincing people to join your faction and releasable at will, and though they cannot truly break your control, their emotions and personality still affect their performance. Your units work far beyond human capability, felling a tree bare-handed in half an hour and far faster with tools, and you hold a research tree where units 'thinking and experimenting' fill a progress bar that is guaranteed to pay off rather than risking failed experiments, with appropriate resources, tools and equipment massively accelerating it — a unit with a computer and physics simulator progressing perhaps a thousand times faster.

  • Your original body still exists as a unit under your command, but isn't necessary for your survival. Your mind will continue to exist so long as there's a single living unit under your control.

  • You can communicate with and command all of your units remotely.

  • You can perceive anything that your units can. You also have a vague zone of perception around your units where you can perceive everything, to some extent. As more units gather in an area, the perception zone there will become larger and more precise.

  • You can multitask, but not infinitely. You can multitask more the more units you have. You get an additional thought thread for every twenty units you control.

  • You start with 7 units. These are real people with their own natures and desires. They are also under your control.

  • You can control your units both broadly and very finely. Give your units broad commands and schedules, such as telling them when to sleep or wake or what duties they should perform. You can also take control of your units more directly, commanding them to perform specific tasks, right now. If you need to, you can even use a thought thread to seize full control of a unit, controlling it as though it were your own body.

  • You can gain more units by convincing people to join your 'faction' or 'group'. Once they do, they become one of your units and fall under your control. You can also choose to release units.

  • Though your units can't truly break free of your control, their emotions and personality will still affect their performance.

  • Your units are able to perform labor much faster and better than they should be capable of. A unit could cut down a tree in half an hour using only their bare hands, and with a stone axe cut down a tree in a few minutes. This extends to crafting, farming, and all kinds of 'work'. It doesn't enhance travel or combat.

  • You have a research tree. By having your units spend time 'thinking and experimenting', you can make progress towards unlocking new technologies and phenomena.

  • This doesn't function like real research does; you don't have to worry about experiments failing or just not discovering anything useful. It's more like a progress bar that's guaranteed to work out so long as your units put enough effort into it. You don't even technically need to put any resources into it, simply having your units think on hypotheticals is enough to make progress.

  • However, appropriate resources, tools, and experimentation will massively speed up research progress. A unit with a computer and physics simulator programs might make a thousand times as much progress as one who sits around daydreaming of an advanced water purification device.

  • This research can create technologies and systems that are literally impossible to achieve. You could achieve FTL travel in a universe where physics simply doesn't allow it, invent working magic runes in a hard science fiction world, or create a nuclear reactor in a fantasy world that isn't even made of atoms. However, the more more impossible a research should be, the more its cost is amplified.

  • You can speed up or slow down your own perception of time.

  • You can set up conditions that will automatically slow or speed your perception of time. For example, you can set up a condition that will slow time if your colony is attacked.
