Essence of the[Glass Ceiling]

The taste of the Essence is like cold, unyielding glass and the subtle, suffocating pressure of unseen boundaries.

• You gain the ability to perceive the current state of individuals in various aspects of their lives – their health, wealth, skill development, influence, happiness, etc. You see their current standing with clarity.

• Through a focused act of will directed at a specific individual you can perceive, you can impose a Glass Ceiling upon one or more aspects of their existence. This Ceiling is anchored to their current status in the chosen aspect at the exact moment of imposition.

• Once a Glass Ceiling is established for an aspect (e.g., their financial status, their magical power, their physical strength, their recovery from an injury), that aspect cannot naturally improve or progress beyond that imposed limit. Any efforts they make, resources they expend, or fortunate circumstances that arise which should lead to improvement in that specific area will mysteriously fail, be nullified, or lead to no net gain beyond the Ceiling.

• For example, if you impose a Ceiling on someone's wealth when they have exactly 100 gold coins, they will find it incredibly difficult to ever possess more than that amount through their own efforts or normal windfalls. New income might be immediately offset by unexpected expenses, investments might strangely underperform, or found treasures might get stolen.

• If a Ceiling is placed on someone's health while they are injured, their natural healing processes or medical treatments will only ever bring them back to that specific injured state, never to full recovery beyond it.

• When a Glass Ceiling is imposed, it manifests as a conceptual barrier where reality itself seems to conspire to prevent any advancement beyond the set limit, often in ways that appear completely natural or coincidental to the target and outside observers.

• You can impose multiple Ceilings on a single individual across different aspects of their life, or impose similar Ceilings on as many individuals as you choose.

• The target is typically unaware of the Glass Ceiling's existence as a deliberate, external imposition, attributing their lack of progress to their own failings, misfortune, or the natural difficulty of life. Only those with exceptional perception or if you let them know can know this is happening to them.

• You can, at will, choose to adjust or remove a Glass Ceiling you have imposed. Removing it allows the target's natural potential and efforts to resume their course. Adjusting it might involve raising it slightly (a cruel mockery of hope) or lowering it further if their circumstances somehow dipped below your initial imposition and you wish to re-anchor it.

• This ability does not directly harm or reduce what a person already has (unless you impose a new, lower ceiling after they've somehow regressed). It primarily prevents further gain or improvement beyond the point you define.
