AI summary

Binds you to a dimension of endless sky containing your own skyblock — a floating plot of dirt with grass and a tree — or, optionally, an equivalent starting point in another kind of endless dimension, from a mushroom cave in endless stone to a hollow asteroid in vacuum. The tree is the dimension's core and your main route to resources and strength, used rather than harvested: making a connection through it launches expeditions into other universes, most often fictional ones from shows, books, films and even fanfiction, initially without your being able to choose the destination, each expedition assigning three missions of varying and sometimes currently impossible difficulty, and lasting only six to eight hours at first, with worsening sickness from hour six and disintegration by hour eight, and death anywhere — on expedition or at home — has your dimension core revive you at baseline health for your body or species, whichever is higher, with the fate of items in pocket dimensions depending on that space's nature. Core shards, crystals coloured to match your skyblock, are spent on the core to upgrade it, and time runs 1:1 between your dimension and others by default though upgrades can change that ratio or let you set it yourself.

Drinking this sky blue Essence with clumps of dirt floating to the top binds you to your very own skyblock. It also tastes like dirt.

Effects

  • Upon drinking this Essence you will be teleported and bound to a dimension of endless sky with your very own skyblock, a plot of floating dirt with grass and a tree growing atop it. The plot of dirt is a cube roughly the size of a football field. The tree is the size of a large oak tree and looks to be one. The grass is a variety you aren't allergic to. The day/night cycle is the same as Earth, with the moon and sun being purely cosmetic and optional. The weather is relatively mild and comfortable, though there may be occasional heat waves and cold snaps, along with rain, and maybe even snow, thunder, or lightning.

  • You may optionally opt for a different sort of dimension. For instance, you may be bound to a dimension of endless stone, starting in a small cave full of mushrooms. The only real requirement is that the dimension is endless and mostly homogeneous, with a starting area that's distinct from the rest of the dimension for being particularly habitable to yourself due to both a change in composition and flora to support your continued existence, along with a 'core' to the dimension through which you can perform expeditions.

  • Essentially, you could start in anything from a cave in an endless dimension of stone to a hollow asteroid in the vacuum of space.

  • The tree is the 'core' of the dimension and the primary method through which you can gain resources and grow in strength, not through harvesting it, but through using it. By making a connection, which should come naturally to you as your existence is linked to the tree, you may go on expeditions to other universes to harvest resources.

  • More often than not, these universes are that of fiction, such as shows, books, movies, and even fanfiction. You do not initially have the ability to choose where an expedition will lead, though may eventually gain the ability to do so.

  • When an expedition is started you will be given three missions to accomplish during it. The difficulty of these missions vary and may not always be possible with your current abilities, though they usually will. Missions can be anything, though they tend towards some sort of gathering, or some sort of quick significant activity such as defeating an enemy. Completing missions grants you core shards, which may be used to upgrade your skyblock.

  • Initially expeditions may only last six to eight hours, with an increasing sickness decreasing your capabilities from hour six onward, with your body surely disintegrating by hour eight. You may return to your skyblock at any time, bringing whatever objects or people you carry with you.

  • Should you die, be it on an expedition or on your island, your dimension core will revive you, restoring you to baseline health for your body, or baseline health for your species, whichever is higher. Any items you carry are not revived with you and may be permanently lost if you fell off the edge or died on an expedition. You are restored to baseline health in the same manner when you first drink this Essence, though you keep whatever items are on you.

  • Whether or not items in pocket dimensions or inventory spaces are lost as well is dependent on the nature of the pocket dimension or inventory space. A generic inventory space given by a system will probably drop everything, while a pocket dimension that you use a spell to access may not. (Personal Preference).

  • Core shards are crystals which vary in appearance depending on your skyblock. With the base skyblock they are sky blue with cloudy white patches. Core shards may be used on your dimension core to enhance your dimension, or the dimension core itself. This could be permanent upgrades or one off benefits. You could increase the maximum length of expeditions, fine tune the expedition targeting system to choose more favorable universes and locations or even specific ones, expand your land, add seasons, create a particular weather phenomenon, and all sorts of generic things.

  • By default time passes between your dimension and other universes at a 1:1 rate, though you may change this with upgrades. For instance, you could make it 5:1, or even make it so that you choose how long it's been since your last expedition.

  • Non-generic upgrades can be done by spending materials from your expeditions alongside core shards. You could make sure the next expedition is a particular universe, or even make sure that you can always choose to access that particular universe, you'd just need valuable and/or unique objects and/or materials from that universe. You could also for instance create 'biomes' from other universes, or do things like add and strengthen the leylines or ambient mana of your dimension.

  • You and your dimension are both compatible with the metaphysics of every universe you come across, even capable of effortlessly bridging the gap between power systems. This means that you'll be able to use the power systems of worlds you visit, and even use those same power systems in worlds with incompatible physics. This also means that you can blend together power systems and technology from several different universes despite them normally working off of different laws of physics.

  • Don't confuse this for power systems being internalized. If you become a Cleric or Parahuman, you'll still have a God or Shard, and you'll indeed be giving your god or shard access to whatever universes you travel to. To use such powers in your own dimension, you must allow your power source access to it, which is probably a bad idea in the case of Shards. You may also permanently sever such connections to yourself at will, so long as you're in your own dimension.

  • Your dimension core grows to stay roughly the same scale as your land, meaning that if your land doubled in size, your tree would too.

  • Your dimension is unassailable by invaders, and you can't unwillingly bring stowaways into it. The only way you can permanently die is if your dimension core is destroyed, which would require multidimensional annihilation attacks such as soul destroying magic or possibly something like Sting.

  • You are unable to end an expedition while under the effects of mind control. This means that you will only return to your island when you are either dead or no longer under mind control. Either way this ensures the relative sanctity of your mind and safety of your dimensional protections, as you will revived free of the effects of mind control, and unable to invite cosmic horrors into your home against your own volition.

  • You can only leave your dimension through expeditions. Though if you have some other method of Multiversal travel, you may use it while out on expeditions. You will still be under the effects of the timer should you do this, and you will still be given missions relevant to the universe the expedition sent you to.
